How long have you been doing makeup?
I took my very first makeup class with Alphonse Wiebelt (Muse Beauty Pro) in 2012 and have been doing makeup full time since August 2013.
What made you decide to become a Makeup Artist?
Many things have contributed to me becoming a Makeup Artist. First things first, I used to draw and paint all the time as a young child. In fact, I really wanted to go to art school after high school but instead studied Economics at Colorado State University. My thinking was that I could do some art after I graduated and had a steady job. Also growing up, my mother was a licensed cosmetologist so I would sit in on her appointments from time to time and watch transformations happen. That's also where my fascinaton with beauty (makeup & skincare) products began. All of these things lead me to become a Makeup Artist. It's funny how life works but I'm extremely happy it happened this way!! Now I have a great business background to help support the artistic side.
Where did you learn to do makeup?
I learned how to do a little makeup in esthetician school (SFIEC - SF / graduated in 2013) . I have also taken almost every single makeup class (including airbrush) from Muse Beauty Pro in SF. And I take many seminars and makeup classes from various artists whenever I get the chance! I love learning about makeup and the beauty industry - I strive to keep education a top priority!
Can you create any look?
Yes, through my training in makeup artistry, I've learned to create and recreate any look. If you have something in mind, find pictures of it and send to me along with your requests. I will make sure to tailor the look to you, with your requests in mind. It will be fun!
What products do you use for makeup?
Its ever-changing, and I swap things out based on the event and/or clients needs. But I try to keep this pinterest board up to date with all the stuff I carry.
Do you do airbrush makeup?
Yes, I use Kett Cosmetics or Temptu Perfect Canvas for airbrushing.
To airbrush or not airbrush?
Having your makeup airbrushed on is perfect for those times when you will be in front of an HD camera. It gives a little bit of a blurred effect, so it can make skin look more flawless in pictures. For the times that you will not be, I can easily create a similar effect by using the beautyblender with foundation.
Do you do spray tans?
Not as of yet, but I hope to get some training on that soon so I can add that to my services!
How far in advance should I book a makeup artist?
As soon as you know that you need one. Artists in LA can get booked up pretty fast, especially if it is a holiday weekend.
